Today

Saturday, 12th Aug 2017

Today I decided I don't like school holidays. We stayed home and I got annoyed with Harriet for not napping and with Owen for being clingy (he couldn't be by himself for even just one minute). We gave Harriet some cherries to eat and she loved it.

Thursday, 10th Aug 2017

Today I have completely recovered from my illness finally! I also upgraded our broadband and got a great deal for it. We fed Harriet avocado and banana for the first time, and she seemed to like it. Think she'll be quite an epicurean. It felt like just yesterday when she was a wriggly red newborn baby.

Tuesday, 8th Aug 2017

Today I discovered Ibuprofen for children. Harriet didn't seem to hate them as much as she does Calpol. In the afternoon I had an online chat with my sister.

Monday, 7th Aug 2017

Today I had a breakthrough as I discovered/remembered that Ibuprofen works much better for my sore throat than Paracetamol and I finally found reprieve from the pain.

Sunday, 6th Aug 2017

Today I was still ill and so much pain. Might be flu or tonsillitis. And now migraine as well. Harriet was miserable too. We watched the finale of Top of the Lake Series 1, and the baby in the show was so cute, reminding me of Harriet.

Saturday, 5th Aug 2017

Today Harriet and I were still poorly and suffering, Peter had to do most of the child care.

Friday, 4th Aug 2017

Today I was ill with fever, chills, and sore throat. It seems Harriet too, as she's been waking up all night.

Thursday, 3rd Aug 2017

Today Harriet was still bad about naps and I listened to/read David Mitchell's The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet on Audible/Kindle during the long hours of breastfeeding.

Wednesday, 2nd Aug 2017

Today I had a bit of a breather at home when Owen went to nursery, though baby Harriet was being fussy and would only nap in my arms.

Tuesday, 1st Aug 2017

Today it felt like we've had the longest weekend ever (what with the summer holidays) and I could not wait for Owen to go back to nursery so we could have a break. Again I wondered how other parents do it. But probably their 5 months old baby doesn't wake up every 2 hourly in the night and their preschooler doesn't need constant attention.

Monday, 31st Jul 2017

Today we took the children to the playground and visited the newly opened village cafe for lunch.

Sunday, 30th Jul 2017

Today I was impressed by the quality of David Mitchell's writing in The Bone Clocks, and felt a stir to write myself. We stayed home all day as it was rainy and cold and we were exhausted from childcare.

Saturday, 29th Jul 2017

Today the night wakings and children tantrums were so bad, I lost my will to live for the day. We decided not to go to Charlbury's Riverside Festival (also it was rainy) and went to Witney to get grocery instead.

Friday, 28th Jul 2017

Today we were exhausted again as both children had been waking us (and each other) up multiple times in the night and I only got out of bed after midday.

Thursday, 27th Jul 2017

Today we left grandparents' house for our own. Travel was hell as baby Harriet cried and Owen shouted at her to stop, and me shouting at him to stop shouting. Poor Peter. In the evening, we comforted ourselves by watching the new season of Game of Thrones.

Tuesday, 25th Jul 2017

Today grandparents took Owen to Godstone Farm and even let him ride in the convertible with the top off.

Monday, 24th Jul 2017

Today it was rainy so we stayed home at grandparents' all day and Owen had loads of grandparents attention all day and was very happy.
