He finds me funny

Ok.. so here is my new song. There's quite abit of white noise in the recording, and also the bad guitar playing and singing.. don't expect much. I don't claim to have talent. And yea, I was having too much fun with the layering too.. Oh well, but it was such great fun!

Also do let me know if this actually sounds just like some existing song written by someone else. It's really hard to tell if you're hearing from your muse or from subconscious memory, especially for something so intuitive like music. There's always the risk that I might just accidentally plagiarise someone.

Here you go: He Finds Me Funny.mp3 - 3.02 Mb (the Artist name is 'Tian', that's my Chinese name)

He finds me funny

(Chords: C Am Dm G again and again and again...)

He finds me fun-funny
When he teases me into crying
Crying like a baby helpless and weak
I weep, I weep, I weep

He finds me funny, I'm sure
All my desperate measures for his pleasure
That's what he is after, the laughter, I'm sure
My measures for his pleasure

He finds me funny when I'm weak
Hurting deep inside till I am meek
Crying like a baby helpless and weak
My spirit weaker weaker

He finds me funny when I weep
When he teases me into crying
Crying like a baby helpless and weak
I weep, I weep, I weep

That's why he has made me...
Oh god that's why he has made me...
Oh god that's why he has made me...

He finds me funny when I weep...
That's why he has made me

He finds me funny, I'm sure...
All my desperate measures...

He finds me funny when I'm weak...
Hurting deep inside till I am meek...

I like your voice. And I'm

I like your voice.

And I'm glad of the link to FAWM, I'll have a go at that next Feb.

Audacity is great for song recording.

I see you recorded this on sourceforge's audacity, good job! I know it comes in handy for podcasting and editing mp3s and wavs. I also know professional musicians like Tom Fox are now using it for fully fledged music productions, which is amazing when you consider its free general public license.

Very nice! I love the vocals — epsecially the background vocals. Ethereal, dreamy, sweet…

  2. Mark Says:

Followed your link on Twitter. For someone that proclaims “non-musically-inclined, no talent, no training, musical novice me”, very nice. I like the sense of irony, and the layering does work. Tempted to try my hand, but I can’t sing or play chords :)

  3. rogerio pvl Says:

I loved it! I play guitar and sing since i was 10… but never tried to write a song, and you inspired me to do that. If you allow me, i’ll even record a cover of your song :)

  4. Victoria Says:

Awww.. thanks everyone! Yea, it turned out much easier than I had thought, I think everyone should give it a go too!

You don’t even need to play the guitar, just get someone to supply a track with just the chords, and you can download that and record your own vocals using Audacity or similar software. Even with the same set of chords you can come up with a surprising variety of melodies. It would be fun to see what everyone comes up with, using the same chords.

And Rogerio, please feel free to record a cover of the song! That’s exciting! And let me know if you put it up on the web so I can link this page to yours, if you don’t mind it. And perhaps you would like to join in the FAWM challenge too!

  5. scrivener Says:

Hey, what’s your FAWM profile? I’d love to add you to my monitor list.

Hi Victoria. I found your link via Twitter too. I love this song and the lyric is very brilliant. It is indeed very dreamy. I’ve listened to it three times already and still loving it. :-)

  11. Miyazawa Kenji Says:

Hey, you popped up on the Twitter public timeline. None of my own friends ever post, so I thought I’d grab a few random people to follow, and your name with the chan suffix caught me eye, as I’m a student of Japan Studies (in Düsseldorf, though I’m American… long story). Anyway, get feeling better soon!
